Stability for the future – 20 years of Montan-Stiftung-Saar

The Montan-Stiftung-Saar foundation was established on 7 September 2001 as part of the “Saarland iron and steelworks solution”. The aim of the foundation was to reorganize the ownership structure of the steel industry in Saarland in order to secure the long-term sustainability of the companies and jobs in the industry. The foundation has been a guarantor for the stability of the Saarland steel industry since 2001. In line with the purpose of the foundation, it has also become an integral part of the Saarland university landscape as a supporter of education and science.

Overwhelming participation in the first joint fundraising campaign by SHS – Stahl-Holding-Saar, Saarstahl and Dillinger

“One hour for people in need” raises €520,000 in donations to benefit the SR/SWR flood disaster relief campaign

The devastating disaster caused by flooding in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate has prompted not only profound sadness among employees of the SHS Group but also a strong will to donate to the cause. Many responded to the request from the Board of Management and Works Council and took part in the “One hour for people in need” campaign.

Saarstahl Rail and Saarstahl Ascoval

New names for quality manufacturers in the rail and “green steel” markets

The SHS/Saarstahl Group today announced the new names for the two plants in France to employees and customers of the Hayange rail plant and the Saint-Saulve steelmaking plant based on the electric arc furnace (EAF) technology. The rail plant at the Hayange location (formerly Liberty Rail Hayange) will in future bear the name Saarstahl Rail, the EAF steel plant in Saint-Saulve (formerly Liberty Ascoval) will now trade under the name Saarstahl Ascoval.

Start of training: Into the future with Saarstahl and Dillinger

Full of anticipation, 128 trainees started their future careers today at Dillinger and Saarstahl. This is always a special day for the companies as well: Dillinger and Saarstahl have for many years relied on having a strong pool of young talent of their own and have offered their young trainees state-of-the-art training at the highest technical level. The steelmaking partners are maintaining this program even under currently difficult economic circumstances and are continuing training at a consistently high level.

Saarstahl confirms its bid to Liberty Steel Group for the acquisition of its two steel plants Liberty Ascoval (in Saint-Saulve, Nord, hereafter "Ascoval") and Liberty Rail Hayange (in Hayange, Moselle, hereafter "Hayange"). This bid supports an industrial project for the future of the two plants, but also for an enduring development of industrial activities in the Nord and Moselle regions.

Innovation for the future

Stefan Kaufmann, Federal Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen (BMBF), is gathering information about the Green Steel initiative and about the use of hydrogen at Dillinger and Saarstahl

Dr. Stefan Kaufmann, Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), visited the Dillingen site today together with Ammar Alkassar, Saarland’s representative for innovation and strategy (Saarland State Chancellery), and Markus Uhl, a member of the Bundestag, to learn about the next important steps for the steel partners in Saarland on their way to carbon-neutral steel production.
