Dr. Peter Schäfer resigns at his own request from his position as a member of the Board of Management of Saarstahl AG

Dr. Peter Schäfer (52) will resign from his position as a member of the Board of Management of Saarstahl AG with effect from September 30, 2013 in order to pursue new challenges outside the company. He has been with the company since January 1, 2007, first as chief representative and from January 1, 2008 as a member of the Board of Management, where he was responsible for the sales division. While in this position Dr. Schäfer was able to overcome the challenges of the economic and financial crisis of 2009, together with his colleagues on the Board of Management, and to achieve the successful reemergence of the company in the following years.
In the future, the tasks as Chief Sales Officer will be carried out by Dr. Klaus Richter (53). Dr. Richter, who holds a doctorate in metallurgy, was appointed member of the Board of Management for five years by the Supervisory Board in yesterdays meeting, with effect from October 1, 2013. He was Technical Director of the LD-Steelmaking plant in Völklingen from 2001 to 2012 and was appointed chief representative for corporate strategy and planning last year. Furthermore, he has been a member of the Executive Board of ROGESA Roheisengesellschaft Saar mbH and Zentralkokerei Saar GmbH since 2009.
The Supervisory Board of Saarstahl AG has expressed its great thanks to Dr. Schäfer for his commitment and his successful efforts on behalf of the company and wishes him success in his future professional career.
