Press release SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar

Müller and Metzken decide to withdraw from the operative business of SHS, Dillinger and Saarstahl and prepare for the change of generations with Tim Hartmann

07 February 2018

Dr. Michael Müller and Fred Metzken informed the Board of Trustees of the Montan-Stiftung-Saar trust in its first meeting of the year at the beginning of February that they will retire from the operative business in the course of 2018. Dr. Michael Müller will therefore resign from the post of Chairman of the Management Board of SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar (SHS) and Fred Metzken from the post of Spokesman for the Management Board of Dillinger and Saarstahl and of Member of the Management Board of SHS as of 31.08.2018.

With these personally taken decisions, both Müller (63) and Metzken (62) want to enable the generational change at the top of the Saarland’s steel industry, which they consider to be necessary, and prepare and actively support a future-orientated succession plan. To that effect, in the course of the year, Tim Hartmann (49) will be proposed as successor to unite the offices of Chairman of the Board of Management of SHS and of Chairman of the Management Board of Dillinger and of Saarstahl in one person in future.

Tim Hartmann is Chairman of the Management Board of envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM), Chemnitz, as well as Chairman of the Management of MITGAS Mitteldeutsche Gasversorgung GmbH, Kabelsketal and was previously Member of the Management Board of VSE AG, Saarbrücken.

The decisions taken in this regard are subject to the required passing of resolutions by various Supervisory Board committees which will meet at the beginning of March.
